Did Mike Tyson Sell His Life Story
Legendary boxer "Iron" Mike Tyson is brought back to his prime in a new trailer for the Hulu limited series Mike. Starring Trevante Rhodes as the titular boxer, the series explores not just who Tyson was inside the ring, but also the controversial life story of mike tyson he lived when the bell had rung and the gloves were off. With the trailer, we get to see Rhodes embody both sides of Tyson — the fierce boxer who dismantled his opponents with a few good punches and the complicated man who experienced manic highs and depressive lows in his pursuit of the American Dream.
Tyson has stayed in the limelight by promoting various websites and companies. In the past Tyson had shunned endorsements, accusing other athletes of putting on a false front to obtain them. Tyson has held entertainment boxing shows at a casino in Las Vegas and started a tour of exhibition bouts to pay off his numerous debts.
In the summer of 1995, Washington settled a civil lawsuit with Tyson for an undisclosed amount, but she has never profited off her story in any way. By all accounts, Washington has lived up to her promise to Walters and has not been heard from since. One of the final things she said during the interview was the reason she put herself through the public hell of a trial was to protect other women. Had Tyson apologized and sought the help he needed, she wouldn’t have. The 108-pound Washington declared, "You hurt me and I was big enough to stand up to you."
"'Sorry,'" Tyson says, barely audible, like a child who suddenly discovers that what he'd been doing for some time is wrong. As if it hadn't dawned on him, until that moment, what an a--hole he was being to her. "That was one of the biggest moments of my life, in the recovery program."
In 1992, Tyson was convicted of rape and sentenced to six years in prison. He was released on parole after three years. After his release in 1995, he engaged in a series of comeback fights, regaining the WBA and WBC titles in 1996 to join Floyd Patterson, Muhammad Ali, Tim Witherspoon, Evander Holyfield and George Foreman as the only men in boxing history to have regained a heavyweight championship after losing it. After being stripped of the WBC title in the same year, Tyson lost the WBA title to Evander Holyfield by an eleventh round stoppage. Their 1997 rematch ended when Tyson was disqualified for biting Holyfield's ears, one bite notoriously being strong enough to remove a portion of his right ear. In 2002, Tyson fought for the world heavyweight title, losing by knockout to Lennox Lewis.
Over the years, he has attended rehab as well as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings. His commitment to a sober life has been more successful recently. "For seven years, I didn’t get high, didn’t drink liquor," Tyson said in 2023. He credits psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana for changing his life and curbing his reliance on alcohol and cocaine.
Mike was the clear aggressor throughout the bout and landed 67 of his 193 punches, with Roy landing 27 of 236. Tyson is a current betting favorite in the purported trilogy bout between him and Holyfield.
From 1999 to 2005, Mike Tyson continued fighting but did not win any title. Towards the end of his career, there was a rumor of Tyson going Bankrupt, which resulted in him firing his entire staff and hiring new ones. In June 2005, Tyson retired from boxing.
I think both Cus and I realized that we were in a race with time. Cus was in his seventies. It wasn’t like I was going to go to school and they were building my character to make me a good, productive member of society. No, I was doing this to become heavyweight champion of the world. Cus was aware of that. "God, I wish I had more time with you," he said. But then he would say, "I’ve been in the fight game for 60 years, and I’ve never seen anybody with the kind of interest you have. You’re always talking about fighting."

AS WE DRIVE, Tyson points out a handful of homeless people. "But this ain't nothing," he says. "If you go straight up here" -- and he points deeper into North Las Vegas, where he knows the homeless junkie community even better.
"He's coming at me with a flurry of punches," Yen said. "I was supposed to block all his punches with Wing Chun techniques. Now, in the Wing Chun techniques, you use your elbow. So, I go at it, maybe have a little power behind it, and I guess I accidentally hit one of his fingers." Yen then tells the interviewer that he didn't even realize Tyson was injured until the famous boxer walked onto set with a bandaged finger the next day.
Tyson’s massive success in the ring was often accompanied by controversy away from it. He has served time in prison and jail on multiple occasions after being convicted on sexual assault, physical assault, and drug charges.physicswala.in
