We understand the curiosity, concern, and confusion every candidate goes through in this phase during counseling. Hence, here is a list of FAQs that we hope will resolve some of the many queries you have and give you an overview of IIT Patna.

1) What are the placement statistics of IIT Patna?

The average salary for the year 2019-2020 was 14.76 per annum for B.Tech. and 12.71 per annum for M.Tech, and it is as high as 21.22lpa (average) for branches like CSE. This is an ever-growing number, and recent years have seen a significant growing graph. The number of companies visiting the campus was 100+ ranging from various sectors like Information Technology, Analytics, Core - Technical to Consulting, Finance, Teaching, and Research. Companies like Google, Adobe, De Shaw, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, etc are few amongst the many recruiters in the past.

2) How to reach IIT Patna?

The college is located in Bihta, which is approximately 30 km away from the main city Patna, Bihar.

AIRWAYS- The nearest airport to reach the campus is Jai Prakash International Airport, located in Patna (32kms away). Direct flights are available from Patna to most of the major cities including New Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, etc.

RAILWAYS- The Bihta station is a 2km ride from the campus. The main Patna junction, one of the busiest routes is 35kms away and is very well connected to mostly all parts of the country.

ROADWAYS- To reach the college from Patna, one may book cabs (Ola/Uber, etc available or even through personal travel agencies). Bus Service is run by the State Government (buses starting from Gandhi Maidan to Bihta. They drop right in front of the Campus Main Gate). There is the availability of Taxis/Autos and other vehicles too in front of the Station/Airport.

3) Hostel Facility at IIT Patna?

As of now, there are 2 Boy’s Hostel and 1 Girls Hostel on the campus. The occupancy of the room depends on its size (either double or triple occupancy). The college will allot a bed (without mattress), a study table, chair, and a wardrobe per student.

Each hostel has its own mess facilities. They have their own common room, Gymnasium, grounds(courts), etc.

4) Where do the parents stay on reaching Bihta for the counseling process?

There are also some hotels in Bihta where the parents can stay.

Generally, some accommodation facilities are made by the institution for the parents to stay (in the common room of the hostels). Although no such official information is received yet.

5) What are the things one may bring to college?

(Consider normal situations) There are stalls set up on the campus, for 4-5 days where all the necessary items like mattress, bucket, toiletries, cycle, etc. These items are available in shops at the Bihta market not far from the college too.
